Privacy Policy
Effective June 14, 2026
The short version
beetle helps founders find Reddit threads worth engaging with and draft replies that sound like them. We collect the minimum data needed to do that: who you are, what your brand does, which threads you've looked at, and which replies you've drafted. We don't sell your data. We don't share it with advertisers. We don't train other people's AI models on it.
1. Who we are
beetle is operated by the team behind trybeetle.com. If you have a privacy question, write to kartikay@trybeetle.com.
2. What we collect
- Account info — email address, password hash, and any name or workspace details you enter at signup.
- Brand context — the website URL you give us, what our analyzer extracts from it (product name, ICP, competitors, keywords), and anything you edit by hand in Settings.
- Reddit thread metadata — titles, bodies, upvote counts, subreddit names, and timestamps of threads our agent surfaced for you. We do not store entire Reddit comment trees; we fetch comments only when you open a specific thread.
- Drafted replies — every reply our LLM agent drafts for you, plus your edits and whether you copied or posted them.
- Reddit account info — your Reddit username and per-subreddit karma score, read once when you pair the extension and refreshed periodically. We never read or store your Reddit password or session cookies.
- Usage signals — which threads you dismissed, which replies you copied, what you wrote in refinement prompts. We use this to make future drafts more useful to you.
- Technical data — IP address, browser type, and error logs, collected through our hosting provider (Vercel) and error monitoring (Sentry).
3. How we use it
- To run the product (find threads, draft replies, post via your extension).
- To make future drafts sound more like you, by feeding your edits and approved replies back into the model context.
- To diagnose bugs and operational issues.
- To send you transactional product emails (account verification, pairing confirmations, support replies). We do not send marketing emails without your opt-in.
4. Who we share with
We share data with the service providers that make beetle work. All of them are bound by data-processing agreements and use the data only on our behalf:
- Anthropic — to run the LLM calls that draft your replies. Anthropic processes data per their privacy policy and does not train models on the API content we send.
- Supabase — our database and authentication.
- Vercel — our application hosting.
- PostHog — anonymous product analytics (clicks, page views, feature usage).
- Sentry — application error monitoring.
We do not sell your data, share it with advertisers, or transfer it to anyone for marketing purposes.
5. Reddit and the extension
Our Chrome extension uses the Reddit cookies already in your browser to fetch threads and submit replies. This is the same path Reddit's web interface uses when you click "Reply" yourself.
- The extension never reads or transmits the values of your Reddit cookies. It uses them in place via the browser's standard
credentials: 'include'fetch mechanism. - Your Reddit password is never seen by beetle, the extension, or any of our servers.
- Every reply submission is initiated by you (two-tap confirmation in the web app). The extension does not post anything autonomously.
- The extension stores one piece of state locally in your browser: a pairing token that links it to your beetle workspace.
6. Cookies and local storage
On trybeetle.com and app.trybeetle.com we use first-party cookies to keep you signed in. PostHog sets a first-party analytics cookie. We don't use third-party advertising cookies. The Chrome extension uses chrome.storage.local to remember its pairing token.
7. Your rights
You can ask us to export, correct, or delete any data we hold about you. Email kartikay@trybeetle.com and we will respond within 14 days.
If you delete your beetle account, we delete your workspace and all associated drafts, brand context, and Reddit thread snapshots within 30 days. Some operational logs (billing, error reports) may persist longer for legal or auditing reasons.
8. Retention
We keep account-level data for as long as your beetle account is active. Reddit thread metadata older than 90 days is automatically pruned. Reply drafts are kept indefinitely (or until you delete them) so the learning loop has examples of your voice over time. You can delete any draft from Settings.
9. Children
beetle is for adults. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has signed up, email us and we will remove the account.
10. International transfers
beetle is operated from the United States. If you are in the EU, UK, or another region with data-protection law, you agree your data may be transferred to and processed in the US, subject to standard contractual clauses with our service providers.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the product evolves. We will post the new effective date here and, for material changes, email you in advance.
12. Contact
Email kartikay@trybeetle.com for anything privacy-related.
